Mudit Kakar, Ph.D.
Dr. Mudit Kakar focuses his practice on intellectual property rights. His experience includes work in intellectual property litigation, technology transactions and licensing, privacy and regulatory compliance. He represents clients in various industry sectors, ranging from tech companies to pharmaceuticals and life science companies. Dr. Kakar uses his first-hand experience in developing new technologies to help clients achieve their business goals by leveraging their intellectual property. Through the combination of science education and training, and legal skills, Dr. Kakar helps companies evaluate, implement, protect and monetize intellectual property.
Dr. Kakar holds a Ph.D. from the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, where he focused his research on the use of gene therapy for treatment of leukemia and other cancers. Based on his academic background and knowledge, he also assists clients in the healthcare area, including protection and privacy of medical information. Dr. Kakar possesses a keen ability to present complicated scientific and legal issues to clients in a way that is easily understandable.
Dr. Kakar’s experience in working in India and working with corporate and individual clients from foreign countries is another great asset for his practice. He understands and appreciates cultural differences, and their implications, in developing strong relationships with clients and other counterparts, to advance business goals.
Dr. Kakar is an advocate of giving back and values dedicating time to make a difference in professional and social issues through the power of law within local communities. He serves on the Board of Directors for One America, supporting causes centered on eliminating discrimination and oppression, and promoting and defending justice for people of every race, religion, language, immigration status and sexual orientation. Dr. Kakar also serves on the Board of Directors for Washington Initiative for Diversity to promote an inclusive work environment and diverse workforce in the legal profession. He also maintains an active pro bono practice helping victims of persecution seeking asylum in the United States.
